I'm Over-Scheduled and Underfun-ded
The following is my Fall schedule. It's not fun. Does it look like it's fun? 'Cause it's not fun.
Monday: Teach "All About Me" scrapbooking with 4 year olds, and Thomas.
Tuesday: Teach "Puzzlemania" with 4 year olds who've never played puzzles, and Thomas.
Followed by teaching "Animal Planet" with 3 year olds who've never had to sit still for story-time, and Thomas.
Followed by bowling.
Once a month, boy scout pack meeting in the evening.
Wednesday: Park day.
Thursday: Starting in two weeks, our co-op. I'll be teaching a class and leading the cub scouts. Thomas will be taking Spanish, art and cub scouts.
Once a month boy scout meeting for me.
Friday: Soccer.
Saturday:
Sunday: Sunday School Superintendant and Women's Fellowship co-president at church.
Once a month boy scout meeting for me.
I am going to give up as many of these things as possible. I am a one at a time kind of person. And, I am a can't see the forest for the trees kind of person. Homeschooling. Scouting. Nothing else. This is what I want my schedule to look like. It may not happen until January, but it is going to happen.
Monday:
Tuesday: Once a
month, all of us attend boy scout pack meeting in the evening.
Wednesday: Park day.
Thursday: Co-op. I'll be teaching a class
and leading the cub scouts. Thomas will be taking Spanish, art and cub
scouts.
Once a month boy scout meeting in the evening for me--or maybe for Gerry(!).
Friday: Soccer or kickball, depending on the season.
Saturday:
Sunday: Once a month boy scout meeting for me.

Over scheduled and underfunded is the story of many us. I try to be discerning in what we do, but I inevitably fit too much in. Thankfully the children are getting old enough that they are now able to contribute to the funding part.
Spunky, thanks for sympathizing! Actually, although funding is always an issue, I was really talking about a lack of fun in all these things I've committed to.
"Discernment." That's the key, eh?
